Nickel Silicon Carbide Plating
Every Cylinder Works cylinder—standard bore and big bore—features nickel silicon carbide (NSC) electroplated cylinder bores. NSC is a composite of nickel and silicon carbide that provides superior performance compared to cast iron or chrome plating. The advantages of nickel silicon carbide include tighter tolerances between piston and cylinder, excellent wear-resistant surface with outstanding oil retention capabilities, low-friction surface for reduced drag, extreme durability, and greater heat dissipation to the water jacket.
Cylinders are cast from OEM-grade aluminum and then diamond honed to exact bore dimensions with proper surface finish to ensure optimal ring seal and oil retention. The result is a cylinder that appears virtually identical to OEM but delivers superior performance and longevity.
Standard Bore Cylinder Kits
Cylinder Works Standard Bore Cylinder Kits restore your engine to stock condition whether you've experienced catastrophic failure or it's simply time for a thorough rebuild. Each kit includes a new (not remanufactured) cast aluminum NSC electroplated cylinder sized identically to OEM specifications, a hand-matched Vertex piston forged from high-quality 2618 aluminum alloy, and all gaskets, O-rings, and seals necessary for top-end reassembly.
Vertex pistons feature unique skirt profiles and anti-friction coatings that form the perfect mating surface between rings, piston, and cylinder wall. Each piston is hand matched to fit its specific Cylinder Works cylinder perfectly. Easy drop-in installation requires no machining or modification to engine or cases.
Standard Bore High Compression Kits
Higher compression equals more horsepower—that's exactly what Cylinder Works high compression cylinder kits deliver. These kits offer an affordable way to increase horsepower while maintaining stock engine displacement. Like OEM replacement cylinders, high compression kits look stock but they're not.
Kits include precision-honed, nickel silicon carbide plated cylinders paired with Vertex high compression forged pistons. To handle the increased internal pressures of higher compression ratios, Vertex pistons are forged from the highest quality 2618 aluminum alloy for superior strength and durability. Vertex uses unique piston profiles and compression ratios to maximize power and performance while reducing blow-by and oil consumption.

Big bore kits are designed as true drop-in installations with no extra machine work required to engine or cases. The cylinder dimensions are sized to fit your stock engine without modification. Each kit contains the stock-appearing NSC-plated big bore cylinder, a hand-matched forged Vertex big bore piston with rings, wrist pin and circlips, and all needed gaskets and seals to complete installation.
Vertex big bore pistons are forged from the highest quality 2618 aluminum alloy with full molybdenum disulfide skirt coating for increased piston life, quicker break-in, and reduced running noise. Piston profiles are optimized by Vertex to match compression ratio, cylinder design, and ring specifications for each unique application.
Kit Contents
All Cylinder Works kits come complete with everything needed for installation. Standard kits include the cylinder, Vertex piston kit (piston, rings, pin, and circlips), and top-end gasket kit containing head, base, and exhaust gaskets plus O-rings necessary when removing cylinder and head during routine maintenance. Just bolt on and go.
