Hot Cams was founded in 2001 as the first manufacturer of aftermarket performance billet camshafts for the dirt bike and ATV market. Created by Curt Leaverton—an Iowa State mechanical engineer with a lifelong passion for dirt bikes—Hot Cams grew from a simple idea into an industry leader. Stage 1 Camshafts – Drop-In Performance
Stage 1 cams are true drop-in upgrades requiring no valve spring changes. They deliver improved acceleration, more bottom-end torque, and no top-end loss. For single-cam motors, Stage 1 provides excellent mid-range to top-end power increases with great over-rev. Uses stock auto-decompression mechanisms, valve springs, and rockers for easy installation. For dual-cam engines, matched intake and exhaust cams (sold separately) work together for excellent low-end to mid-range gains with strong top-end performance.
Stage 2 Camshafts – Midrange & Top-End Power
Stage 2 cams add significant top-end power over Stage 1 profiles. An incredible way to boost midrange and top-end horsepower while increasing over-rev on motorcycles and ATVs. Easy to install with minimal valve adjustment and re-jetting requirements. The precise engineering and build quality have made Hot Cams consistently voted top product of the year by industry publications. For dual-cam engines, matched Stage 2 intake and exhaust cams maximize the power potential.
Stage 3 Camshafts – Maximum Performance
Stage 3 cams deliver excellent midrange and top-end power increases for riders demanding maximum performance. These are new camshafts—not reground cores—so no core return is required. Stage 3 profiles push the envelope for competition use while maintaining reliability.
Valve Shim Kits
Hot Cams valve shim kits eliminate unnecessary trips to the dealer and prevent ordering incorrect sizes. Complete kits include three shims in each size, organized in compartmentalized plastic cases with labeled sections for accurate replacement. Made from 4140 cold-rolled steel with laser-etched sizes on top of each shim for quick identification. Available in 7.48mm diameter (most 250cc 4-strokes), 9.48mm diameter (most 400cc and larger 4-strokes), 8.90mm diameter (KTM models), and 10.00mm diameter kits. Works with OEM cam adjustments as well as Hot Cams upgrades.
Timing Chains & Components
High-strength Hot Cams timing chains prevent the frustrating stretching issues common with OEM chains. Replacement cam chains meet or exceed OEM specifications for reliable valve timing. Precision-engineered cam chain guides keep chains aligned on sprockets for accurate timing throughout the RPM range. Tensioners and complete timing chain kits restore worn systems to factory-fresh operation.
Valves & Valvetrain Components
Hot Cams offers replacement intake and exhaust valves that meet or exceed OEM specifications. Combined with valve shim kits and timing components, Hot Cams provides everything needed for complete valvetrain service and performance upgrades.
Installation Tools
The Hot Cams piston stop kit helps find true top dead center during camshaft installation. Available with 10mm, 12mm, and 14mm thread sizes to fit various spark plug holes. Camshaft degree kits with dial indicators and aluminum degree wheels ensure precise cam timing for maximum performance.
